The Member Lead Approach

In our Mission Statement, it says that our goal is “supporting progressive women throughout the county, and beyond, by building an inclusive network of member lead advocacy,” and you might be wondering just what that is. For us, it means that our members drive our initiatives.

What is a member-lead approach to organizing?

It’s all about being involved and rolling up our sleeves to do the work on the issues we care about.

Shelby Women for Progress (SW4P) was formed out of a deep love for Cleveland County, and the women who keep it moving! That is why SW4P believes in our members being our guiding voice when it comes to issue based needs and advocacy specific to our community.

In areas like Cleveland County, women’s voices can get lost in the vastness that is rural living. The intention of SW4P is to be an accessible platform and network for progressive women across Cleveland County.

This is a platform where our members take the lead in advocating for issues that impact the people and community that we love.

Our members are made up of women who keep Cleveland County moving; from teaching your children to pouring your beers. We believe that the importance of members taking the lead in the building of this community is crucial the success and progress not only of this organization, but in Cleveland County as a whole.
