Good Trouble Lives On

The next national day of protest is July 17, 2025.

Good Trouble Lives On is a national day of nonviolent action to respond to the attacks posed on our civil and human rights by the current administration and to remind them that in America, the power lies with the people.

  • Signs
  • Water
  • Snacks!
  • A Friend
  • Your Voice
  • A chant or two if you’ve got ’em!
  • Also welcome: guitars, tambourines, and other portable instruments (because joy is a form of protest and music is joy)

NOPE.

Protest is as American as blueberry pie, and people have been organizing WITHOUT taking names since even before we were an established nation. We understand that privacy matters even more now, so no, there’s no need to register your attendance.

We are drafting this event off the efforts of large national organizations that have partnered to coordinate Good Trouble Lives On, but we did not register this event. You can see all of the partners HERE.

John Lewis Day is a project hosted by Transformative Justice Coalition, Black Voters Matter, Indivisible, Declaration For American Democracy, and Public Citizen

A core principle behind all our protest efforts is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values, and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.

If you are in the area but cannot attend, there are several ways that you can help!

  • Share this event with like-minded friends and neighbors who CAN attend.
  • Drive by, honk, and wave! We love the support.
  • Donate a case of water (you can even do this in advance! Email thekudzucoalition@gmail.com, and we will coordinate)
  • Make a sign – we will find someone to hold it up for you in your absence!

More Information

Yes, this falls on a Thursday, and yes, meeting right around supper time can be tough. This mobilization effort looks a bit different than the last few, with most organizations taking a decentralized approach. It’s not one big march, even in larger cities. It’s an opportunity for us to come together, connect, and be visible in our own communities.

So, while a Thursday evening in the heat of the summer might not be the most convenient time to attend a protest, we hope you can set an hour aside to make it work. Visibility matters. Coming together matters.

It’s also important that we KEEP GOING.

This is a movement, not a moment.

The world keeps turning, even while it feels like the world is simultaneously crumbling. We all still have families, pets, jobs, commitments, bills, and responsibilities.

Complacency is how they hold us back. Apathy is the fascist ally. Weariness is what they are hoping for. So we KEEP GOING.

Our last protest effort turned out more than 300 people [source: a very nice man who counted us as we walked the block, but would not share his name, and asked that I just call him “hey you”]. Do I expect 300 people at 4:30 on a summer Thursday? I dunno. But y’all, I’d love to see it.
