Protest is just the first step.
Joining protest efforts can be invigorating, motivating, and the community building that happens can feel like a version of church.
Visibility, a shared voice, and connecting with others are at the heart of any good protest effort, but they are just the beginning, just the first step.
Take Action
Here are some things you can do post-protest to keep up the momentum.
- Join a local org! We recommend Kudzu Coalition and sister organizations like Shelby Pride.
- Give to and support local Mutual Aid groups! We suggest Cleveland County Mutual Aid.
- And if you are registered, CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION!There have been many efforts to suppress and purge voter rolls, so check, and then in a month or two, check again!
- Download the 5Calls app and make calling your legislators part of your daily routine. It’s easy, I swear.
- Sign Up to fill the community fridge! Volunteers are always needed!
- Volunteer with the Broad Riverkeepers – keep our local waters clean!
- Volunteer with the Broad River Community Market!Help feed local families.
- Attend a School Board Meeting.
- Attend a County Commissioner’s Meeting
